The textile and beauty industries are under pressure: waste of resources, species extinction and exploitation are the defining features of the situation.<\/strong><\/p>

We are Miriam and Regina, and together we are setting up the Soil Sisters Group.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As an independent agency, we bring together the key players in this transformation. Our shared focus: soil health sustains us and benefits us all. We raise awareness of nature-based solutions for the textile and beauty industries and develop farm-centred, regenerative business models that utilise cutting-edge nature-tech to understand global supply chain risks and work in harmony with nature.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\u201cHaving spent over 15 years in the textile industry, I am well aware of the financial pressure that buyers face. This almost always results in short-term profit being prioritised over a long-term materials strategy. As a result, the future viability of companies reliant on raw materials is jeopardised.\u201d<\/p>

We are stepping up to change this system: by generating profits and winners at both ends of the chain. We demonstrate how natural capital can be incorporated into the balance sheet. In this way, externalities become driving factors and resilient supply chains become competitive advantages.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\u201cI come from the operational side of the beauty and luxury industry. In my previous roles, I have worked at the interface between brand, procurement and the market, and have seen first-hand how strategic decisions are made throughout the supply chain \u2013 often under significant time and cost pressures. This close involvement with existing systems has given me a keen insight into where they work well and where they are losing their effectiveness in the long term.\u201d<\/p>

For me, the founding of SoiSisters<\/strong> is a direct result of this experience. I wanted to create a framework that helps companies take a more active role in shaping the early stages of their value chain: through reliable networks, better relationships with producers, and a deeper understanding of the conditions under which raw materials are produced.<\/p>

\u201cI see my role as bridging different perspectives \u2013 economic requirements with agricultural realities, and strategic planning with environmental sustainability. SoilSisters was born out of a desire to forge precisely these connections and to rethink supply chains in a way that ensures they remain viable in the future.\u201d<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The founding team of the Soil Sisters Group brings together interdisciplinary expertise in regenerative agriculture, sustainability management, technology integration and business development.<\/strong><\/p>

Regina holds a Bachelor of Science in Textile & Clothing Management (2010) and completed an MBA in Sustainability Management in 2017. In 2025, she expanded her expertise in sustainable finance by obtaining a certificate as an Expert in Biodiversity Finance (Frankfurt School of Finance & Management). Regina has held various positions within textile retail companies. As a specialist in social and environmental requirements, she has focused on supply chain transparency, conducted audits and certifications, gained experience in public-private partnership programmes, and acquired in-depth knowledge of the \u2018next-generation materials\u2019 in the textile industry.-<\/em> -<\/em> - -<\/em>\u00a0- -<\/em> -<\/p>

In 2023, Miriam wrote her master\u2019s thesis on agroforestry at the Centre for Sustainability Management at Leuphana University of L\u00fcneburg, in which she explored ways of scaling up agroecological farming in Morocco. After graduating with a degree in economics, she worked for many years in marketing within the beauty and fashion industries; she has a strong network in the luxury fashion and beauty sectors and possesses extensive experience in digital communications. Between them, the founders speak seven languages.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our application for the EXIST start-up grant has been approved, and Miriam and Regina\u2019s business plan will receive financial and technical support between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026.<\/p>

Our activities cover two operational areas:<\/b><\/p>

Miriam is dedicated to advancing the development of biochar and will be driving forward the certification and distribution of the material produced at the refugee camp in Navikale, Uganda. Further information can be found here: www.GenR.world<\/p>

Regina focuses on projects in the textile sector.<\/p>
